McHi Mariachi Oro takes 1st place at FESTIBA event

The McAllen High Mariachi Oro took first place in the Class 6A Division at the 15th Annual FESTIBA Conference at the UTRGV Performing Arts Complex February 29. In addition, they earned a sweep of all of the Caption Awards: Best Violins, Best Trumpets, Best Rhythm Section and Best Vocals.
 
In the Vocal Competition held February 28, Miguel Macías took first place and Natalie Carmona earned third place representing McAllen High School and McAllen ISD.
