Hello McAllen High School Bulldogs,

I just wanted to let you know how thrilled I am to be your McAllen High School Principal. As a McHi Graduate, it is my mission to ensure that each of our students is College, Career or Military Ready and equipped with 21st century skills and emotional intelligence.

This past school year was filled with numerous accolades. We are recognized as an AVID (Advancing Via Individual Determination) National Demonstration Campus (1 of 157 in the Nation), and currently the only high school in South Texas. In order to receive this distinction, schools must demonstrate implementation of schoolwide systems that promote college readiness for all students through the AVID Elective Class and campus wide systems such as WICOR (Writing, Inquiry,  Collaboration, Organization and Reading). We were also recognized by U.S. News and World Reports as one of the Best High Schools in the Nation.  McAllen High School is ranked #1,322 in the National Rankings and earned a silver medal. Schools are ranked based on their performance on state-required tests and how well they prepare students for college.  As a traditional comprehensive high school, we offer our students challenging courses such as College Board AP/Pre-AP, Dual Credit, and UT OnRamps Courses.

At McAllen High School, we have an amazing academic UIL Program, an outstanding Fine Arts Department that allows our students to participate in Theatre Arts, Mariachi, Orchestra, Band, Dance, Choir and the Visual Arts, and this year, our outstanding athletic department was named the RGV 6A High School Program of the Year.
